September 2019 Newsletter

Inching closer to fall...

Can you believe the calendar reads "September," and soon we'll fill our weekends with apple picking, cider sipping and fall festivals. Yes.. we are so close to the Fall season. However, before we say goodbye to Summer, we want to take a moment to celebrate some great things that have happened so far this year! We had a great golf outing at Garrett Country Club hosted by The Loyal Order of Moose in Auburn. We've welcomed some new volunteers and new staff members. Our staff members attended CASA Day at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. We received an $11,000 statewide public relations campaign grant that gave us funds for billboards in the area to raise awareness. And there's been so much more!

All of the wins would not be possible without people like you! It's because of your support that we can continue to advocate for children. When you share in our mission, it helps to spread the awareness and our efforts are magnified! Thanks to each and every one of you for all you do for children and for Northeastern Indiana CASA.

We've got a few new volunteers...

Holly Andreas was recently sworn in by Judge Rentschler as a CASA volunteer in Whitley County. She joins 2 other volunteers who were recently sworn in to advocate for children. Did you know that we serve in DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, and Whitley counties? If you want to know more about volunteering, visit
Becky Lieland was recently sworn in by Judge Rentschler in Whitley County as a CASA volunteer. Becky will be giving a voice to children in her community and advocating for their best interests.
Recently we welcomed Carol Miller as our newest CASA volunteer. She will be serving Steuben County. She is pictured with Judge Wheat. Can you join with us in welcoming Carol and applauding her decision to advocate for children in our area.
After more than two decades of service, Bonnie Schoppman is retiring. “When I got started, I don’t think I really understood what was all involved. I just knew I had the spirit to volunteer and I couldn’t think of a better way than to invest in children. Who can say no to children?" said Bonnie in an article featuring her dedication in 2018. Join us in thanking Bonnie for all she has done for the numerous children she has served over the years!

In case you missed it...
