Volunteer Spotlight: Mary Leite

Mary Leite became a CASA volunteer in 2017 and serves Steuben County. She has overseen 8 CHINS cases, 2 divorce cases, and advocated for a total of 17 children. Mary chose CASA as a way to give back to her community. Before staying home to homeschool her children, being a special education teacher, and Special Olympics coach, she felt this was a good way to use her experience to advocate for children once again.

Mary has three children. Her oldest, Logan, is a Trine graduate and heading to law school; Katie is a freshman at Trine and a member of their NCAA championship triathlon team; and her youngest son is a senior at Fremont Highschool and is an avid basketball and golf player. Mary loves to travel; she never misses a minute of her children’s sporting events and takes every second she can to spend time with friends and family.

Fun fact about Mary, she is a former D-1 swimmer and was ranked third in the world in taekwondo in sparring.

“The best advice I could give to new volunteers is to lead with your intuition and trust your instinct,” said Mary. “Love big you won’t regret it.”

Thank you, Mary, for simply being you!
