CASA Palooza Celebrates 40 Years of Advocacy

Rome City, IND. — Community members, sponsors, volunteers and supporters gathered to celebrate four decades of advocacy for children during this year’s CASA Palooza, an annual fundraiser benefiting CASA and marking the organization’s 40th anniversary of service to children experiencing abuse or neglect.

The event, held in April at Sylvan Cellars in Rome City, brought together attendees for an evening of celebration, connection and community impact while honoring CASA’s legacy and investing in its future mission of advocating for vulnerable children navigating the court system.

Throughout the event, guests participated in live and silent auctions and enjoyed tasting stations from several local caterers, restaurants and more that were on hand. The night also featured stories of impact and more about the role CASA volunteers play in representing the best interests of children involved in abuse and neglect cases.

Funds raised through CASA Palooza will support volunteer recruitment, advocate training, programming and ongoing efforts to ensure children have a consistent voice during some of the most difficult periods of their lives.

“For 40 years, CASA has stood beside children who need someone in their corner,” said Kristi Bachman, executive director of Northeastern Indiana CASA. “Reaching this milestone is a celebration of every volunteer, donor, community partner and supporter who has helped us advocate for children over the years. CASA Palooza reminds us that our mission is only possible because of a community willing to show up and invest in hope, stability and brighter futures.”

In addition to recognizing 40 years of service, CASA Palooza brought attention to an ongoing need for additional trained volunteers to serve as advocates for children experiencing abuse or neglect. As local cases continue, the demand for community members willing to stand alongside children through the court process remains critical.

‍”Every child deserves someone who will consistently show up, listen and advocate for their future,” Bachman said. “We are proud of our 40 years of impact, but we are also reminded that there are still children waiting for support. We encourage individuals who feel called to make a difference to learn more about becoming a CASA volunteer.”

‍CASA volunteers are appointed to advocate for the best interests of children involved in the court system, providing stability, support and an independent voice during uncertain circumstances. Volunteers come from a variety of professional and personal backgrounds and receive training to prepare them for the role.

“This anniversary is not only about looking back. It is about strengthening our commitment to the children and families who need us moving forward,” said Bachman.
